    About the Book :
    Tourism is one of the largest service industries in India. It contributes significantly in achieving sustainable development of the Country. In terms of contribution to GDP and employment opportunities, tourism sector plays a key role. The hotels and travel agency are two major forms of services related with tourism. Considering the significance of tourism, the government provides various incentives and subsidies to entrepreneurs to attract investment in the Sector. In the State of Kerala Tourism operates in both the organized and unorganized sectors. The unorganized sector plays a key role in attracting domestic and foreign tourists to various destinations. This sector provides employment directly or indirectly to a sizable number of skilled and unskilled people of the State. More number of young talented educated people in the State has been serving as tourism entrepreneurs. However, the government and financial agencies provide no incentives to the unorganized sector. The tourism entrepreneurs in unorganized sector, especially hotel and travel agencies provide more services and facilities and adopt various marketing strategies. However, they experience certain issues in their day-to-day working. In this background, the authors have conducted a work on the working of tourism entrepreneurship in the unorganized sector in Kerala with special reference to hotels and travel Agencies.

    The book comprises eight chapters, including an introduction and summing up. It is hoped that the book will be useful to entrepreneurs and executives in the tourism sector, Policy-makers, Government, academicians and researchers in the area of commerce and Management studies.

    About the Authors
    Dr. V.K. Rahanas, M.Com., Ph.D., is Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Alphonsa Arts and Science College, Sulthan Bathery affiliated to University of Calicut (Kerala). She obtained her degrees of Master of Commerce and Doctor of Philosophy in Commerce from University of Calicut. She has published two research papers in the reputed International journals and presented three papers in National Seminars. Her fields of special interests are Marketing and Tourism.

    Prof. B. Vijayachandran Pillai, M.Com., MBA., PGDTM., Ph.D., is Professor and Ex-Head, Department of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Calicut (Kerala). He has over thirty-six years of teaching experience and has been serving as Coordinator, School of Management Studies, Palakkad Centre of University of Calicut since 2013. He was the Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam during 2016-18. He served as Director, Directorate of Self Financing Courses, University of Calicut (2017-19). He has successfully guided twenty- three M.Phil. Dissertations and nineteen research scholars have secured their Ph.D. degree in Commerce and Management Studies under his guidance. He has authored/co-authored/edited seventeen text books and published two hundred and fifty-two research papers and articles in reputed journals. He has presented one hundred and fifty-one papers in the national and international level seminars/conferences. He is a member of All India Commerce Association, Indian Accounting Association and various academic bodies.
