    The Book

A woman has right to equality before law, right to religious liberties and also lawful rights against discrimination based on sex, gender, status, etc. Any infringement to their fundamental rights is indeed an infringement of law and order. Some temples bar women during their menstrual cycle and restrict them to stay away from religious rituals and places. Just because of the orthodox mindset and societal norms,  these temples not only question a women’s purity based on the menstruation process but also prohibit her to retain religious activities and worship the deity by suppression of her will. However, no religious scripture defines a woman as impure in any stage of her life.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court and High Court of India have passed several landmark judgments supporting women’s religious rights. Despite of huge achievements for all women to overcome various hurdles, defeat societal barriers and get their rights yet this is not the end. It is important to change the mindset of the society to clear all the old myths, break superstitions and make people aware of reality and law. They must accept and respect the creation of God. One should treat them equally. Time has now come to change our mindset then only we shall get our women empowered and finally develop and progress our nation.

This book will help promote interdisciplinary research in the field of religious rights of women in the 21st century. It will also provide an opportunity for researchers, students and teachers of the concerned fields of knowledge to formalize their curiosity and gather the views of the academicians, social scientists and legal practitioners.
