    About the Book :
    Public Distribution System is a government sponsored chain of shops entrusted with the work of distributing basic food and non-food commodities to the needy sections of the society at very cheap prices. Social inclusion is a process which ensures that those at risk of poverty and social exclusion gain the opportunities and resources necessary to participate fully in economic, social and cultural life and to enjoy a standard of living. In drought prone areas the PDS is expected to be more effective, especially for underprivileged in the process of social inclusion.

    The study provides the structural changes in public distribution system in India. The study highlighted the problems faced by the beneficiaries of public distribution system and suggestions for betterment of the target groups in the process of social inclusion.     About the Authors
    Dr. V. Aswathy, is presently working as Vice-Principal at Sree Narayana College of Arts and Science, Keralasserry, Palakkad (Kerala). She has a few years of teaching and research experience. Many research papers have been published in national and international journals.

    Dr. M. Nagesh Kumari, co-author of the book is a value added and reflective teacher, Associate Professor of Economics, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, College for Excellence, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She has twenty four years of teaching and research experience with a passion for learning. She has worked as “Research Editor” in the Centre for Development Research and Training (CFDRT), Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has successfully completed UGC funded two minor projects and one major project. The report of minor project on “Socio-Economic Profile of Women Prisoners” was published as a book in the year 2010. Also published a book on “Performance Evaluation of Life Insurance Corporation of India—Post Liberalization Period” in the year 2018. She wrote more than thirty articles which were published in the edited volumes and reputed journals of national and international.

    She has guided seventeen M.Phil. scholars in Economics and Management, five Ph.D. scholars, forty MBA projects and more than 40 group projects.

    Dr. M. Nagesh Kumari has received the Junior Economist Award and Senior Economist Award from the Association of Economists of Tamilnadu (AET), Tiruchirapalli; Bharat Siksha Ratan Award from the Global Society for Health and Educational Growth, New Delhi; Dr. Radhakrishnan Gold Medal Award from the Global Economic Progress and Research Association, Tamil Nadu; and the Best Researcher Award from All India Academic Researchers Association, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu.
