About the Book
This book is an overview of the occupational problems faced by the construction workers. The book focuses to expose the socio economic conditions and the occupational problems faced by the construction workers. It has analysed the work related problems to the workers in relation to the work environment, health, safety, supervisors, coworkers and contractors, finance, payment, family and psychological aspects. As these workers comprise of persons from different locations and states of India, the problems faced by them are different. The book has attempted to analyse such problems with the workers’ state, category of occupation and working sector of sample respondents to which they belong. The book also tries to bring forth the role of welfare fund boards, benefits given to the construction workers and the nature of membership in the trade unions and political parties to workers for their betterment.

About the Author
Dr. P. Siddeeque Melmuri is an Assistant Professor of Commerce and Management Studies at the School of Distance Education, University of Calicut, Kerala. He earned Ph.D. from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam (Kerala) on doctoral thesis titled : Occupational Problems of Construction Workers in Kerala. Dr. Siddeeque Melmuri has published another book for UGC NET JRF aspirants titled : NTA UGC NET/JRF General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude. He is qualified in M.Com. (Finance), M.Com. (Marketing), B.Ed., PGDBA and qualified UGC NET with JRF three times in Commerce and Management Studies. He has six years of experience in teaching in university and colleges and in guiding the aspirants of UGC NET/JRF examinations. He has contributed extensively in peer reviewed journals and has made numerous presentations in National and International Seminars.
