    The Author

    Prof. (Dr.) Nageshwar Sharma was born on 26th June 1949 in a humble family in the district of Bhagalpur, at small village, Usmanpur under Lattipur Panchayat, Bihar. He completed his Graduation with Honours in Economics and Masters in Economics from T.M. Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur (Bihar) in 1968 and 1970, respectively. He also earned his Ph.D. degree in 1981 from T.M. Bhagalpur University and passed the LL.B. examination in 1971 from the same university.

    In 1972, he joined A.S. College, Deoghar as a lecturer and rose to the rank of Reader in 1985. He further advanced in his career, becoming a University Professor in 1990. Professor Sharma was appointed Principal by the Commission in August 1994 and retired in July 2011. He continued his service to education by serving S.K.M. University, Dumka, as the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Social Science, and also as a member of the Syndicate and Senate of the S.K.M.U. Dumka.

    Throughout his academic career, Professor Sharma has demonstrated his commitment to education, guiding and mentoring 12 Ph.D. scholars. He has also contributed significantly to the field through the editing of two books, namely “WTO and India” and “Indian Higher Education and Tribals.”

    In addition to his scholarly pursuits, Professor Sharma has authored two books in Hindi, titled “Development, Displacement, Deprivation, and Discontent” and “Samvedna”, which are beneficial for Hindi-speaking students.

    Professor Sharma is a life member of prestigious organizations such as IEA, EAB, BEC, and Human Rights Mission. Currently, he holds the position of Joint Secretary IEA (Bihar and Jharkhand) and serves as the Executive President of EAB.

    In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Professor Sharma was awarded a “Prashasti Patra” along with a cheque of Rs. 5,000 by the Government of Jharkhand on the occasion of its Foundation Day on 15th November 2008. He has also received various prizes and ‘Samman Patras’ from numerous organizations, highlighting his significant impact in the field of education and social sciences.
