    About the Author
    Dr. Avikshit, Ph.D, is visiting Professor at the Centre of Management and Humanities, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (Deemed to be University).

    He has more than thirty-five years of exhaustive experience in Project and Programme Management, Industrial Operations, Business Development and Alliance Management, Planning and Production, General Management, Mechanical/Production/Marine and Industrial Engineering.

    He was commissioned in the Indian Navy in 1984 and served there for 23 years, wherein, he spent many years on Russian and German Submarines and Indigenous Warships, on the faculty of the Naval College of Engineering where officers of Indian Navy are educated in basic as well as specialisation courses in Marine Engineering. He served with the class authority of Submarines, the final authority, responsible for ensuring operation worthiness of submarines. He was a part of several projects involving acquisition of new submarines, equipment and creation of infrastructure towards augmentation and modernisation of the existing fleet of the Indian Navy.

    Post Naval service he joined Reliance Naval Engineering Ltd. (RNEL), the then Pipavav Shipyard, a Greenfield project, that was to become biggest shipyard in the country and one of the largest and ultra modern in the world. There he came across Japanese masters and they mentored him for senior positions by teaching contemporary management doctrines and their implementation. Moreover, he was also exposed to work hand in hand with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as they were deployed in setting up of yard and subsequently production in very large numbers. That was the time he realised that MSMEs were the backbone of any Industry and strengthening their leadership will go a long way towards better financial health of a company and in turn of a country.

    He rose to the position of Vice President-Deputy Chief Operating Officer. He also did a stint as Chief Operating Officer (COO) with Swan Lng Pvt. Ltd. at Gujarat.

    Apart from Management and Engineering he has a deep interest in the study of human behaviour, vagabonding and exploring the world.
