    The liberalization, privatization and globalization make the public sector monopoly in the general insurance industry. Today, building customer relationship in the general insurance industry creates a high degree of trust and faith among the clients. The entry of private sector increases the need for customer relationship in the general insurance business.

    Managing the motor insurance business is a very difficult task, but with the appropriate strategies and operations, the companies can bring more rewards. Like any other business, customers are the key persons in this insurance. But in the industry, tuning insurance policies as per the preference of the customer is not possible. The reason is that the insurance industry is strongly governed by the regulatory bodies. Here, the companies can win over by providing with a good quantity of customer relationship. Thus, by building up a proper relationship and offering quality services, the insurance companies can delight the customers and which create a loyalty among the customers towards the company. Through the present work, the authors made an attempt to study the applicability of customer relationship in general insurance with special reference to motor insurance in the context of Kerala.

    The book comprises seven chapters, including an introduction, review of literature, theory chapter, three analysis chapters and findings, conclusion and implications. It is hoped that the book will be useful to managers and executives in motor insurance companies, policymakers, academicians and researchers in the area of commerce and business management studies and other stakeholders.

    About the Authors

    Dr. M. Divya, is Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce and Management Studies, MES Keveeyam College, Valanchery (Kerala), affiliated to University of Calicut. She took her degrees of Master of Commerce and Doctor of Philosophy in Commerce from University of Calicut (Kerala). She has teaching experience of one year at UG level. She has published seven research papers in reputed national and international journals and presented five papers in National/International seminars. She also served as a chairperson in one of the national seminars. Her fields of special interests are Marketing, Accounting and Taxation.

    Prof. (Dr.) B. Vijayachandran Pillai, is Professor and Ex-Head, Department of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Calicut (Kerala). He has over thirty-five years of teaching experience at UG and PG levels. Formerly, he was the Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam (Kerala), (2016-18). He is the Director, Directorate of Self-Financing Courses, University of Calicut. He has been serving as Coordinator, School of Management Studies, Palakkad Centre of University of Calicut since 2013. Under his guidance twenty-one M.Phil. students and eighteen research scholars have secured their Ph.D. degree in Commerce and Management Studies. He has authored/co-authored/edited fifteen text books and published two hundred and thirty-six research papers and articles in reputed journals. He has presented one hundred and forty-six papers in the national and international level seminars/conferences. He is a member of All India Commerce Association (ICA), Indian Accounting Association (IAA) and various academic bodies.
